What do you want your Child’s Beliefs to Be?

What we believe we live. We can either have life limiting beliefs or life enhancing beliefs.

Beliefs are formed through the following

Here is an example with the belief “I am trustworthy/ i can trust myself”

  • Stating the belief “You are trustworthy/ I trust you”

  • Living and experiencing the belief “my parents are trusting me with this challenge”/ parent giving child challenge they have to problem solve

  • Repeating the belief Doing the above repeatedly

  • Having the belief modelled to us Showing to your kids that they can trust you/ that you trust them.

Beliefs are naturally formed between ages of 0-7 but new beliefs can be practiced through repetition and experience at any age.

What do you want your kids to believe about themselves?


Beliefs About the Self:

    • I am worthy of love and happiness

    • I belong

    • I am fundamentally okay

    • I am strong and capable

    • I am intelligent and able to learn

    • I am a good and decent person

    • I have the power to create positive change in my life

    • I deserve love

    • I am fine as I am

    • I have purpose/ I am useful

    • I am honorable

    • I am likeable

    • I can do hard things

    • I deserve good things

    • I am (can be) healthy

    • I am a strong person

    • I am intelligent (able to learn).

    • I am significant (important)

    • I am okay just the way I am

    • I deserve to live

    • I deserve to be happy

    • I am okay as I am

    • I try hard

    • I can learn from my mistakes

    • I do the best I can

    • I am trustworthy

    • I can trust my judgment

    • I can choose whom to trust

    • It is important to take care of myself

    • Emotions are safe

    • I can make my needs known

    • I can succeed

    • I am supported

    • I can be myself

    • I can handle it

    • My body knows just what to do (re sleep/ healing)

    • I trust my intuition and gut feelings


      Beliefs About Others:

    • Most people are generally good and kind

    • Whilst some people are not to be trusted most people can be trusted

    • Not everyone has to like me 

    • I don’t have to fit in or be like others I can just be me

    • So long as I am decent and kind I don’t need to be overly responsible for other people

    • My wellbeing is as important as others

    • Friends are nice but family is more important

    • Friends are nice but they are not everything

      Beliefs About the World:

    • The world is full of opportunity

    • The future is bright

    • I have enough time

    • Life is a journey of growth and learning

      Beliefs About their Ability to Change:

    • I can change my thoughts and beliefs

    • I can overcome challenges and obstacles

    • I can achieve my goals and dreams

    • I can make mistakes, learn and grow
